TRALEE’S 17th major Festival of the year, the National Circus Festival of Ireland, will get underway this weekend and unlike any other event in the country, it can 100% guarantee that the audiences will be left in hysterics.
Running over three days from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th November, the Tralee Circus Festival will bring together some of the best street and circus performers in the world.
The Artistic Director of the National Circus Festival of Ireland, Con Horgan, said: “The event was launched in October and since then, the town of Tralee has been gripped by Circus Fever. Children and adults have been turning into clowns complete with colourful wigs, frilly costumes and facepaint! There is something for everyone of every age at all venues in Siamsa Tire Theatre, the Carlton Hotel and on Denny Street.”
It all gets underway with Mumusic at 8.30pm on Friday 15th November in Siamsa Tire Theatre presenting a magical mix of top class circus, live music and comedy. Don’t miss these world famous, Barcelona-based performers at the festival, where they perform their only Irish show this year.
Jerry Fish, a living legend in the Irish music industry, will be a top attraction at Circus Sideshow, a bespoke Festival Club in the Carlton Hotel from 10pm on Friday. He will perform with his new line up,
The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow featuring RSAG.
The newly-crowned World Street Performance Champions, Lords of Strut will feature at the Festival Club on Friday night as well as hosting the two Circus Siamsa Shows on Saturday at 2pm and 5pm – both of which sold-out in 2011 & 2012.
It’s not ‘in-tents’ and it’s not all indoors as the magnificent Fidget Feet, a pintsized aerial circus act, will perform a spectacular FREE outdoor Crane Show over Denny Street from 3pm on Sunday afternoon, 17 November.
Some of their shows have played to over 80,000 people worldwide including performances at the likes of Glastonbury, Rose of Tralee International Festival, National Arts Festival of South Africa, Fleadh Cheoil, and the World’s Festival of Western Australia to name a few.
The National Circus Festival is not just a showcase of entertainment for fun-loving audiences. This year’s event will play host to the Irish Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle Seminar. Taking place on Friday 15th November it will attract a large number people who work professionally in the area of Street Arts, Circus or Spectacle.
