Tralee Chamber Alliance praises volunteer effort to transform Ballybeggan for Festival Racing

IF the Entente Florale Judges had visited Ballybeggan Park during their visit to Tralee last week they would have said “winner alright” following the transformation that has been taken place at the venue for the Kerry Horse & Pony Racing Championships next week.

Two fun-filled days are planned for all the family when racing gets underway at 3pm on Saturday 16th and 3.30pm on Sunday 17th August at the heart of the 2014 Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Volunteers have been working around the clock to prepare the track, paint the turnstiles, lay shrubs, whitewash the walls and make grand the grandstand for the big equestrian event in Tralee.

Tralee Chamber Alliance is supporting the event through sponsorship and PR support with a view to attracting thousands of race-goers to the famous venue.

The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “There are many positive things associated with the Horse and Pony Racing Event at Ballybeggan Park and chief among them is the fact that the community is working together to make the venue presentable to a large crowd. We expect the organisers to stage a professionally-run event and we are urging the general public to include it on their ‘must-do list’ of events during the Festival. Many Tralee Chamber Alliance members have shown their support by sponsoring a number of races.”

Apart from a much anticipated visit by some of this year’s Roses and the Rose of Tralee, Haley O’Sullivan, one of main attractions at the meeting will be the second running of the Trophy Challenge between Ireland and Great Britain.

Saturday 16th August is Ladies Day and the kids won’t be forgotten either with Bonny Baby, Sharp Dressed Boy and Cute Little Miss competitions.

The organisers have promised two quality Race Cards as well as live music, kid’s entertainment and full catering facilities to ensure a fantastic day out for all the family. Admission for children is FREE, while adults need only pay €10.00 and it’s only €5.00 for students and seniors.
