TRALEE is celebrating the summer by establishing itself as the café centre of the Kingdom following the creation of around 100 jobs in the sector in recent months.
In addition to the 53 new jobs that were created at Rocky Mountain Restaurant and Drive-Thru at Mile Height, Tralee last week, a number of other cafés and bistros have opened in the town centre.
The President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Pádraig McGillicuddy, said: “It has often been remarked that there was nowhere to eat in Tralee but that has changed with the emergence of so many eateries and cafés. It has helped Tralee’s wider appeal as a destination for local and international tourists and it sends out a message that the town is open for business. While Tralee has got off its backside and is fighting back against the recession, there is an onus on everyone to spread the positivity and to continue supporting local businesses.”
A further boost to the development of the town will come with the opening, later this month, of the new Tralee Ring Road and Pádraig McGillicuddy paid tribute to the local authorities who brought that project to fruition.
Tralee hopes to retain the Gold Medal that was secured in the 2012 Tidy Towns Competition and Tralee Chamber Alliance is working closely with the local Tidy Towns Committee to achieve that goal.
“Tralee is looking marvellous thanks, in no small part, to the volunteers who continue to give of their time for no reason other than to make their home town look great. We must all play our part to keep the town spotless before and after the judging takes place this month. Tralee is a fabulous town and it does the heart and soul good to see how we have come together as a community,” said Pádraig McGillicuddy.
It’s a year since Tralee Chamber Alliance officially opened its doors at 18 Denny Street, Tralee and during the past 12 months the Alliance has worked closely with the business and tourism sectors to lead growth and foster pride in the town.
Over 200,000 people saw the town in all its splendour when the Kerry GAA Night of Champions was broadcast on RTÉ TV live from Kingdom Greyhound Stadium last month.
Tralee Chamber Alliance, with the support of the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, was proud to sponsor the televised broadcast during which the viewers were regularly reminded that there is more to see at Tralee.ie.
Businesses and members of the community are continually invited to join Tralee Chamber Alliance and play their part in stimulating retail and tourism trade in the county capital.
