Tralee App now on Apple & Android devices to further promote one of Ireland’s Top 10 Tourism Towns

TRALEE’s newest marketing tool, the Tralee App, has been launched with a view to further promoting the town as the ideal base from where to explore the Wild Atlantic Way in 2014.

TRALEE’s newest marketing tool, the Tralee App, has been launched with a view to further promoting the town as the ideal base from where to explore the Wild Atlantic Way in 2014.

Available to download to iPhones, iPads and Android devices, the design of the Tralee App was commissioned by Tralee Chamber Alliance in collaboration with graduates and current undergraduates at the Institute of Technology Tralee.

The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “The Tralee App is mostly aimed at visitors to the town because it gives them information about where to stay, what to do and what attractions to visit. It’s very relevant to tourists and to people all over Kerry who want to find out more about one of Ireland’s top 10 tourism towns. The App will complement the very successful website, www.Tralee.ie.”

Kieran congratulated the designers, Hans Moolman of Neverhack.com and James Morrissey, both graduates of the BSc Games Development, and programmers Rhiannon McNulty and Sam Breen, both 3rd Year Multimedia Students at IT Tralee, who worked on the project since September 2013.

Head of Department of Creative Media, Information Technology and Computing
Institute of Technology Tralee, Mary Lucey, said: “We were delighted to have had the opportunity to collaborate in the development of this project. From the College’s perspective, this is reflective of real-life industry work practices and the benefit to the individuals involved is enormous. The launch of the Tralee App is particularly appropriate as the ITT has recently introduced an Honours Degree Programme in Computing with Mobile App Development – the first of its kind in the country.”

Considering the phenomenal growth of smart phones and tablets, qualified graduates in this sector are in huge demand and this demand is predicted to grow substantially into the future.

“The Tralee App will meet the needs and demands of people when they arrive in Tralee and we are encouraging all our members – particularly in the tourism sector – social media fans and their own network of contacts to promote the App in the interest of building the profile of Tralee to a wider audience,” said Kieran Ruttledge.

The Tralee App, offering comprehensive information about Tralee as a tourism or commercial location, is FREE to download from https://itunes.apple.com and https://play.google.com/store/apps.

Information about upcoming events, attractions and where to stay in Tralee is also available from www.tralee.ie.
