THE CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, has challenged the people of Tralee to achieve overall success by winning Best Overall Large Town title in the 2015 Tidy Towns competition.
He led the words of congratulations from the TCA Board to the volunteers who were instrumental in ensuring that the town retained its Gold Medal in the 2014 Tidy Towns Competition.
Tralee increased its points tally by five since last year and the Judges’ comments were positive in relation to their impressions of the town during their summer visit.
The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “The volunteers who came out in force every Thursday night for eight weeks in May and June deserve heaps of praise and gratitude from the wider community. They picked up litter, swept the pavements, disposed of cigarette butts and showed great pride in their town. Their effort, along with that of the local authorities, was instrumental in securing the Gold Medal for a third year in a row. A tidy Tralee will go a long way towards helping businesses in the tourism sector to attract more visitors next year. So why not win the overall title in 2015? Local businesses and residents throughout Tralee should start working now towards retaining the Gold Medal for a fourth successive year and aim for the top prize as Ireland’s tidiest large town.”
Some simple steps to approve the appearance of their premises, taken on a regular basis over a longer period of time will go a long way to such as wiping down the paintwork and cleaning the windows but it needs to be done regularly.
The next big moment for Tralee will come at the end of September when the results of the Entente Florale are announced.
The European Competition, which is aimed at promoting a better quality of life, is one of the most prestigious competitions of its kind in the world with towns from 11 other countries vying for the top prize.
The Judges visited Tralee in July to see the effectiveness of the partnership between the local authority and the local community who work together to achieve goals and objectives such as the Tidy Towns and Top Tourism Town Awards.
The Entente Florale results will be announced on Saturday 27th September in Hungary.
Anyone who wishes to get involved in the regular clean-up evenings in Tralee can do so by contacting Tralee Chamber Alliance, 18 Denny Street, Tralee or email info@Tralee.ie.
