DICK and Eibhlin Henggeler, the parents of the late Dorothy, the 2011 Washington DC Rose who sadly passed away last year, have succeeded in their bid to purchase Fels Point Hotel in Tralee, Co Kerry.
The purchase from NAMA, which was brokered by CBRE, will be completed on June 4th following a protracted bidding process that lasted more than 12 weeks.
The Executive Chairman of the Rose of Tralee International Festival, Anthony O’Gara said: “The successful outcome of the bid will strengthen the long-term development and viability of the Festival in Tralee. It has long been an ambition of the all organisers of the 56-year Festival to build a permanent Dome and that goal will now be achieved. We can now unlock the full potential of the Festival and put plans in place to develop a permanent entertainment & conference centre on the site adjacent to Fels Point Hotel. Such a development, in partnership with Kerry County Council, will provide a major boost to the local economy in Tralee and Kerry.”
Anthony O’Gara, who will become Managing Director of Fels Point Hotel, thanked Dick and Eibhlin Henggeler for their philanthropic gesture which will see profits from the hotel being reinvested into the development of the Dome.
He also thanked the people and business community of Tralee for their support throughout the bidding process.
The 2015 Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place from 14 to 18 August and full details are available from RoseofTralee.ie.
