DON O’Neill promised high-octane Red Carpet glamour and he didn’t disappoint after bringing his most spectacular gowns to the Rose of Tralee Autumn Winter Fashion Show in the Dome.
The Ballyheigue native, who is based in New York, said the 1600-strong audience was bigger than attendances at any other fashion shows he’s been involved in from New York to London or Paris.
Proudly sponsored by The Kerryman newspaper, the Rose of Tralee Autumn Winter Fashion Show is the first such event of the season each year in Ireland and it delivered on its promise to fuel dreams and keep the paparazzi cameras flashing.
Over 40 designers and boutiques were joined on the catwalk by The Design Centre, Dublin and Dublin-based designer Synan O’Mahony in showcasing their very best styles for coming Autumn/Winter season.
The Producer of the Rose of Tralee Fashion Show, Celia Holman Lee, said: “This is a unique event that consistently delivers top quality styles to nearly 2000 people every year. The Festival Dome is the most ideal venue to stage an event of this magnitude for fashionistas who travel from all over Ireland to see style, elegance and sophistication on the longest catwalk in Ireland.”
Local established designers as well as the crop of up and coming designers are providing unique and original clothes that are fashion forward and exciting. With so many weddings, race meetings, fashion luncheons, fundraisers and awards shows.”
The winners of the second annual Rose of Tralee Kerry Fashion Designer Awards 2014 are: Best Designer – Nuala McCarthy Designs and Best Milliner – Elizabeth Christina Designs.
Caitriona Sayers from Tralee was judged by Fashion Journalist, Lorraine Keane and Rose of Tralee, Haley O’Sullivan, to be the Best Dressed Lady on the night.
This year’s prize sponsored by The Loop at Dublin and Cork Airports was a ‘Pamper Day for Two at The Loop in Dublin’ featuring: A Clarins mini-facial and a MAC make-up make-over for the winner and a guest, a Champagne lunch for 2 at Flutes Champagne Bar, a shopping voucher for The Loop to the value of €300 with overnight accommodation and dinner in a top Dublin hotel.
There was positive news from Don O’Neill who confirmed tonight that Oprah Winfrey has recently received a number of new dresses from him and there are a few more on the way.
“There’s also another possible magazine cover in the works and it comes on top of a busy year dressing a slew of actresses, including some of the stars of hit US TV show, ‘Orange is the new black’,” said Don.
Four actresses wore THEIA on the TONY AWARDS Red Carpet, Cassadee Pope (winner of season 3’s The Voice USA) wore THEIA on the Red Rarpet at the CMT Awards and American rock star Melissa Etheridge’s wife Linda Wallem wore THEIA at their star studded wedding in California.
The next big events to take place in the Dome will be the two televised Rose of Tralee Selection nights on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th August.
