Prize fund of €1000 up for grabs in competition for distinctive, original & striking “Images of Tralee”

IT’S time for happy-snappers to put their fingers on the trigger, take aim and start shooting for a chance to win a share of the €1000 prize fund in a brand new photo competition called “Images of Tralee”.

Tralee Chamber Alliance is calling on amateur and professional photographers to submit distinctive, original and striking images of Tralee and its people for a chance to win one of 12 cash prizes.

The Judges will be looking for distinctive, original, striking images of Tralee featuring its people, places, faces and moments – they can be brand new photos taken between now and the closing date of 22nd October 2014 or other pictures taken since 1st January 2014.

The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “Following the great success of last year’s “Wild Atlantic Way” contest, Tralee Chamber Alliance is delighted to sponsor the “Images of Tralee” competition and we hope that this competition will also capture the imaginations of the general public. The pictures could feature a particular view of the All-Ireland winning Kerry team homecoming, any of the 18 festivals in Tralee, a day at the beach, street and landscapes or a special family event.”

Over 500 photographs were submitted in the 2013 Wild Atlantic Way Competition and it’s hoped that a similar number of photos will be sent in for this year’s “Images of Tralee” competition.

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter and, like the Wild Atlantic Way Photo Competition, Tralee Chamber Alliance will have the right to publish any of the photos for promotional purposes relating to Tralee.

Anyone who wishes to enter the “Images of Tralee Photo Competition” should submit their photos in high resolution (300dpi) to ImageofTraleeTCA@gmail.com before the closing date of Wednesday 22nd October 2014. The Judges decision, which will be announced on Wednesday 5th November, is final.

The winner will receive €200, five runners-up will each receive €100 and each of the six third-placed photographers will receive €50.

The 12 prize-winning photographs will feature daily on the Tralee Chamber Alliance Facebook Page and on www.Tralee.ie from Wednesday 5th November.

“The pictures don’t necessarily have to have been taken in 2014, but they should portray a fresh perspective on the town and its inhabitants,” said Kieran Ruttledge.
