MOVE over white collar boxing or inter-firm sports tournaments because latest corporate craze, Office Chair Racing is coming to Tralee as part of the 2014 Christmas Spraoi in Tralee.
Tralee Chamber Alliance and St Vincent de Paul Tralee have teamed up to present the Inaugural Christmas Office Chair Racing Championships from 2pm on Saturday 20th December on the Neil Armstrong Way, outside the pedestrian entrance to Siamsa Tíre Theatre.
Shops, banks, hotels, pubs, restaurants, law firms, hospitals, schools, politicians and sports clubs have been asked to take part in what promises to be a hilarious event on the last weekend before Christmas.
The President of the Tralee Area St Vincent de Paul, Junior Locke, said: “Everyone who is lucky enough to have a job at the moment is looking forward to saying goodbye to their office chairs while they enjoy the Festive season. We are asking them to play their part in a fun event that will help us support the many people in our community who are not looking forward to Christmas. Please enter your company or sponsor a friend or colleague to race against a rival company.”
The entry fee is only €50 and all proceeds will go to the Society of St Vincent de Paul in Tralee who are inundated with requests for help from people in our community, not just at Christmas, but all year round.
The deadline to enter is 12pm on Friday 12th December and the draw for the heats will take place at 4.30pm that evening in the Tralee Chamber Alliance Office, 18 Denny Street, Tralee.
The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “We are encouraging our members to show their goodwill this Festive Season by taking part in this novel and fun event in aid of St Vincent de Paul. Anything that can make Christmas special for others can only be regarded as positive and should be supported.”
