THE Republic of Ireland Soccer Manager, Martin O’Neill has teamed-up with the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee to announce that Tralee Dynamos FC will be the latest recipient of a donation from the hospital’s Community Fund.
He was joined by a star of the future, Rian O’Sullivan of Tralee Dynamos, himself an Ireland U15 player, to present a cheque for €15,000 to the oldest soccer club in Kerry at the Republic of Ireland’s training ground in Malahide.
The Manager of the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, Donna Roche, said: “For many years, Dynamos have worked closely with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. They have used sport as a means to instil a sense of pride, team play and community spirit. In doing so, the club fulfils one of the main aims of the Bon Secours Health System which is to provide good help to those in need. In recognising the dedication of Tralee Dynamos to work closely with all sectors of the local community in Tralee, it is a pleasure to select the club as a Community Fund recipient.”
The Low Field pitch, owned by Tralee Dynamos and primarily used by juveniles and charity groups, has fallen into disrepair and the donation will allow the club to immediately redevelop the town centre amenity for the good of the community.
The Kerry Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland, Enable Ireland and Kerry Deaf Resource Centre have been invited to make use of The Low Field throughout the year free of charge.
Balloonagh Football Club, which primarily draws its players from Balloonagh Estate, the residential area to the rear of the Bon Secours Hospital, will also make use of The Low Field Pitch throughout the winter months and into the spring at a reduced rental rate.
“The Low Field is in our neighbourhood and we recognise the need to provide all our neighbours, especially the under-privileged children and teenagers, with a functioning sports facility,” said Donna Roche.
Patrick Daly, Club Solicitor to Tralee Dynamos, said: “We purchased The Low Field in the early 1990s and have used it for training the juvenile teams as well as a venue for youth and inter-firm matches. This donation from the Bon Secours Hospital is welcome and timely as it will prevent us from having to rent a floodlit pitch for training purposes this winter. We see this as an investment in the future of soccer in Tralee and it is fitting to have the top names in the FAI present to mark the occasion.”
