Kerry Airport welcomes new Ryanair route from Kerry to Berlin

KERRY Airport has welcomed Ryanair’s announcement that the airline will commence a new service from Berlin to Kerry in November 2017.

The new route will operate twice weekly over the winter months from Berlin Schönefeld SXF, which is located just 22 KM from Berlin City Centre, while excellent road and public transport connections link Schönefeld Airport with Berlin and the surrounding region.

The Chairman of Kerry Airport, Denis Cregan, said: “We are very happy with today’s announcement. Germany is a key market for Ireland and for Kerry & the South West. Germany is the ‘world travel champion’* as the worldwide number one outbound market for international tourism, and German travellers are the top three in spending terms. So, this is great news for the Airport, for Kerry and for the Region. Kerry Airport is a key asset for the county and the region, and between our Frankfurt Hahn service and our new Berlin route we hope to welcome many more German visitors to Kerry in 2017.  Our thanks to Ryanair for their continued support and confidence in Kerry Airport.”

To celebrate our new Kerry to Berlin route, Ryanair have released seats for sale across their European network from just €9.99, which are available for booking until midnight Monday (13 Feb) from www.ryanair.com.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Robin Kiely, said: “Ryanair is pleased to announce a new route from Kerry to Berlin, with a twice weekly service, as part of our Kerry winter 2017 service, which will go on sale soon. Irish customers and visitors can look forward to even lower fares when they make advance bookings for their summer or winter holidays, so there’s never been a better time to book low fare flight to or from Kerry.”

The announcement of the new Kerry-Berlin service from November 2017 has underlined the importance of Kerry as a destination and gateway for the German tourist market and will ensure increased visitor numbers to the region.

The General Manager at Kerry Airport, Peter Moore, said: “This is great news for the Airport. We have been working hard over the last few years in trying to attract new routes and there is no doubt that our record on the Frankfurt Hahn route assisted us in delivering this new service. German tourists who visit Kerry and the region are amazed with the scenery, hospitality, and in particular the access to the Wild Atlantic Way. Kerry Airport welcomed over 325,000 passengers in 2016, up approximately 6 % on 2015. Today’s news will ensure increased visitor numbers to the region and assist us in our developments at the Airport.”

Kerry Airport is ideally located for anyone wishing to travel on business or pleasure with direct flights to seven destinations including: London Luton, London Stansted, Frankfurt-Hahn, Berlin (November 2017), Alicante & Faro (summer 2017) with Ryanair, and to Dublin with Aer Lingus Regional.
