Extended Christmas Spraoi offers a €6 million Festive Experience under the lights in Tralee

MILLIONS of euro worth of shopping vouchers will be distributed to homes in Tralee once again this Festive Season as the town prepares to celebrate an extended Christmas Spraoi Festival.

The President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Pádraig McGillicuddy, said: “It’s the season to be jolly and positive about Tralee being a great Christmas shopping destination. We are pulling out all the stops to attract as many people as possible to the town to shop and party. So successful was last year’s Christmas Spraoi, our members have pooled together again to produce another 6,000 discount voucher booklets, each crammed with €1000 worth of shopping and parking vouchers.”

Christmas lights to be switched on in Tralee

It will all get underway next weekend when one of Tralee’s most dedicated citizens will switch on the Christmas lights in the town to mark the beginning of the 38-day Christmas Spraoi in Tralee.

Tidy Towns stalwart Mary O’Brien will join the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Pat Hussey, at 4.45pm on Sunday 24th November to switch on the stunning lights and help Santa find his way to Tralee this Christmas.

Tralee is so accessible, Santa will visit the town by land, sea and air over the coming weeks, not only will he star in the Annual CH Parade on Saturday 30th, he will sail into town along the Canal on Sunday 1st December and he’ll fly to Tralee Bay Wetlands on Saturday 7th December.

There is so much to do and see in Tralee with Children’s Merry-Go-Rounds in The Square until Christmas Eve, family entertainment in Siamsa Tire, great shopping choice in the Town Centre and Manor West Retail Park, Carol Singing and the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display.

Tralee Chamber Alliance and in particular, Tralee Town Council have invested a considerable amount of time and money to make sure that it is Christmas every day in Tralee throughout the month of December.

Pádraig McGillicuddy thanked everyone who played a part in Tralee’s success in 2013: “It’s been a memorable year with plenty to be proud of. It’s fitting that Mary O’Brien should switch on the Christmas Lights as she has long been a driving force leading to Tralee’s success in retaining the Tidy Towns Gold Medal, being chosen as a Top 10 Tourism Town and being selected to represent Ireland in the prestigious international Entente Florale Competition.”
