TWO of the 10 acts in the Clare’s Got Talent Final presented by Clare FM will share the €5,000 prize after last Saturday’s decider ended in a tie.
In a closely fought contest, Doolin rock band, Purple Electric and Parteen dancing brothers, A&E, could not be separated by the Judges after they thoroughly entertained a packed-to-capacity audience in Glór Theatre, Ennis.
Both winning acts said that they will invest the prize money into developing their talents with a view to achieving further success in the future.
They were chosen by the Judging panel – Maeve Fox from the Pantaloons Group and Ennis Musical Society, Claire Keville and Bryan Flynn, both of Clare FM.
In the 10 weeks since January 1st, when the competition began, the Judges saw 300 people from 115 acts over three days of auditions after which 30 were selected to perform in three semi-finals watched by nearly 1000 people.
Purple Electric opened the show by performing one of their own compositions, while A&E – Aidan and Eoin Kelly wearing Clare and Cork jerseys and brandishing hurleys – presented a comedy dance routine that featured a mix of music, Clare FM audio clips and jingles.
The other finalists were: Breakthrough Dance (Ennis), Cristin Nolan (Bodyke), Cosa Damhsa (Quin), Aoife Casey (Shannon), Cogar (Ennis), In Tune (Lissycasey), The Matildas (Ennis) and Binneas (Ennis).
The General Manager of Clare FM, Susan Murphy, said: “It has been a privilege to watch and enjoy the 30 acts who have impressed the audiences in Glór Theatre over the past six weeks. Clare truly has talent of varying abilities, styles and genres and it was our pleasure to offer the performers a stage from where to showcase their talents. In this our 25th Year, we are delighted to have a gem amongst our team in Clare’s Got Talent and Clare FM Breakfast Show Presenter, Ciara Revins.”
Susan expressed her thanks to the event sponsor, St Francis Credit Union, without who contributed in no small way by providing the €5,000 prize money for the winning act.
The Director of Clare’s Got Talent, John Drummey, said: “We must also give credit to all the staff in Glór Theatre who worked so hard with the HD Events production team to put together five wonderful shows. Our team of volunteers and Judges sat through over 100 auditions, three semi-finals and the final over an eight-week period. It has been a pleasure to work Ciara Revins and Mike Ryan in Clare FM who played a major part in the event’s success.”
John also encouraged the other finalists to follow their dreams and to take the positives out of the Clare’s Got Talent experience with a view to developing their performance skills for future events.
