KERRY Airport Ireland and 26 other employers in the county have joined forces to donate €5,200 to Pieta House while promoting the county as a great place to work.
A wall in the recently transformed Departures Lounge has been entirely sponsored by local companies who are encouraging people to choose Kerry as their work base.
Kerry Airport CEO John Mulhern, Fred McDonogh, Managing Director of Red Chair Recruitment, Killarney and Chris Fitzgerald, Proprietor of Slógadh Signs, Killorglin have driven the campaign to raise awareness of the many job opportunities that exist in Kerry, despite the interruption of the pandemic.
The CEO of Kerry Airport Ireland, John Mulhern, said: “Kerry businesses across all sectors have, three things (at least) in common, a determination 1) to generate a thriving economy in Kerry, 2) to promote the ease of access to and from key markets and 3) to promote the mental wellbeing of their staff. The generous donations to our charity partner, Pieta House, from each of the partners in this campaign is most welcome. While society is beginning to reopen, Kerry has remained open for business and continues to be an attractive place to live and work.”

The launch of the Open for Business Wall in the Departures Lounge coincides with last weekend’s Darkness Into Light for Pieta House, Kerry Airport’s charity partner since 2019.
John Mulhern has thanked everyone who supported Pieta House this year: “It’s been a difficult time for our own staff, their families and the hundreds of thousands of passengers who love to travel through Kerry Airport. Their wellbeing is important to us. Pieta House and the companies on our wall who made donations to the charity share our concerns for the increasing marginalisation of rural Ireland and the isolation many feel as population centres and opportunities for social interaction shift relentlessly into urban centres.”
Pieta House has a dedicated team working in Kerry to support people and communities in crisis by providing freely accessible, professional services to all who may be affected by suicide.
