Bon Secours Hospital Tralee staff host July 4th Charity Race Night in memory of deceased colleague

FRIENDS and colleagues of the late Tom “Fridge” Naughton, who worked at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, will be “under starters orders” on Independence Day when they stage a benefit race night in his memory at Fels Point Hotel Tralee this Friday, 4th July.

Tom Naughton died suddenly in April of this year leaving his loving wife Joan, three young children, family, friends and colleagues in shock.

The Manager at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, Donna Roche, said: “Tommy was a generous gentleman who gave selflessly for various worthy charitable causes. We are only too happy to come together to show our appreciation of his dedication and boundless kindness to others by presenting a great night of fun.”

Anyone who purchases a ticket for the Race Night in memory of Tom “Fridge” Naughton can secure a spot on the Race Card as the owner, trainer or jockey of a horse in any of the 10 races on the night.

Tom’s colleague Brian Bayfield will be the MC on the night while Timmy Slattery will provide the commentary on each of the races which will be shown on two big screens in the Riverview Suite at Fels Point Hotel.

A number of local businesses have entered into the spirit of the occasion by sponsoring the races and providing a number of quality prizes for the Best Dressed Lady and Gentleman and the Giant Raffle.

Punters will also enjoy an opportunity to have a flutter on any or all of the races with all monies raised going towards the Naughton Family Trust Fund.

“Much credit must go to the team at the hospital who have worked tirelessly over the past few weeks to organise the Race Night and we hope that the public will come out in their droves to support the event,” said Donna Roche.

Tickets for the Race Night in memory of Tom “Fridge” Naughton are available from the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee for only €10. The event will get underway at 8pm on Friday 4th July.
