THE Aqua Dome will reopen this coming Friday 28th February in Tralee following repairs to damage caused by the violent storm that hit the county two weeks ago.
Dubbed Fiver Friday, to celebrate the reopening of one of Kerry’s top tourist attractions, a reduced admission charge of only €5 will apply for the day for fun and fitness enthusiasts from far and wide.
The Aqua Dome was forced to close for a fortnight after scaffolding that was positioned alongside the building, to facilitate the repairs to damage caused by the St Stephen’s Day and New Year storms, was ripped apart by the most recent high winds. Coupled with flying slates from the roof, the debris caused considerable damage to the glass roof of the flume.
The Chief Executive of the Aqua Dome, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “Safety is always our main concern and we are delighted to announce that the Aqua Dome will reopen this Friday morning. We regret any inconvenience that has been caused to members and visitors to the Aqua Dome. All promotional vouchers will continue to be honoured members will be compensated by receiving a three-week extension to their memberships, which will see them receive a bonus week of membership.”
A further closure will be necessary at an off-peak time during the year to facilitate the installation of the tailor-made glass to replace the glazing that was damaged and lost during the storms.
“We can assure the visiting public that the Aqua Dome will continue to operate safely until the final repairs are carried out,” said Kieran Ruttledge.
The entire team at the Aqua Dome, which is fully insured for storm damage, expressed their gratitude to all the local contractors who assisted in the process to get the facility back up and running again.
Anyone who wishes to visit the Aqua Dome when it reopens this Friday can do so for an admission fee of only €5. Further information on offers and storm-related discounts are available from www.aquadome.ie and www.tralee.ie
